Shiuli Collects ₹33 Lakhs in First Week Across West Bengal and Tripura

Mumbai, June 23: Director Babai Sen’s Bengali feature film “Shiuli” has reportedly collected approximately ₹33 lakhs at the box office across West Bengal and Tripura during its first week of release.

The film has been receiving a warm response from audiences despite limited and less favorable show timings in several theatres. Viewers have been adjusting their schedules to watch the film and are sharing positive reactions after their screenings.

According to the makers, the film’s storytelling, presentation, and direction have drawn significant appreciation from audiences. The performances, music, makeup, production design, and scenic locations have also received praise.

Producers Susmita Adhikary and Dr. Nazim Munshi of The Luxurious Living expressed optimism about the film’s journey and audience acceptance. They stated that despite facing numerous challenges before release, the team successfully brought the film to theatres and is encouraged by the overwhelming support from viewers.

Director Babai Sen said, “Apart from the support of SSR Cinemas Pvt. Ltd., we did not receive ideal show timings in many theatres, with some venues assigning morning slots. Nevertheless, the audience response has been extremely encouraging.”

The director further revealed that he has been receiving numerous phone calls, messages, and social media greetings from viewers appreciating the film.

The makers are now exploring plans to dub the film into Hindi and South Indian languages for wider distribution across India and overseas markets. They also intend to bring the film to satellite television and OTT platforms in the near future so that audiences who could not watch it in theatres, especially senior citizens, can experience it from home.

Many viewers have reportedly described “Shiuli” as a refreshing new-age Bengali film that stands out for its emotional storytelling and performances by emerging talents. Several audience members have expressed interest in watching the film again on the big screen.
